Career
Angela Frautschi began with the sport of ice hockey at the Bambini of the EHC Lenk-Zweisimmen. She was a member of the club's (male) junior teams until she was 16: "I didn't even know at the time that there were also women's teams, and I thought I had to quit when I was 16." During an au pair stay, she became aware of a women's team from Friborg , where she was active for two years. In the 2005/06 season she played at DHC Langenthal and made excellent appearances for the national team.
In the 2007/08 season she played EV Bomo Thun before returning to Langenthal for one season in 2007. At the end of the 2007/08 season she won the Swiss championship title with the DHCL .
In the summer of 2008 Angela Frautschi moved to Canada to play ice hockey for one of the world's best women's teams at the time: at the Calgary Oval X-Treme , she met a number of Canadian internationals. After a year in Canada, she returned to Switzerland and played for the ZSC Lions women's team until 2016 , with which she won the Swiss championship in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2016. In addition, she took part with the Lions women several times in the IIHF European Women Champions Cup , the Elite Women's Hockey League and the EWHL Super Cup .
In 2013 Frautschi suffered a head injury and missed a large part of the season.
Frautschi has been studying movement sciences and sport at the Department of Health Sciences and Technology (HEST) at ETH Zurich since autumn 2013 .
International
From 2004 Frautschi belonged to the newly founded U18 junior national team. Two years later she was nominated for the first time for the Swiss national ice hockey team and surprisingly made it into the squad for the Olympic Winter Games in Turin .
At the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver , she took fifth place with the "Women's National Team". At the 2012 Women's World Cup , she won the bronze medal with the national team and achieved the greatest success to date in Swiss women's ice hockey. In 2014 she took part in the Winter Olympics in Sochi , where she won the bronze medal with the national team and thus repeated the World Cup success of 2012.
After 114 international matches for Switzerland and two bronze medals won, she ended her national team career in the summer of 2014.
