Angelika Jahr-Stilcken

Angelika Jahr-Stilcken (born October 26, 1941 in Berlin ) is a German journalist and entrepreneur . Since January 1st, 2008 she has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Gruner + Jahr AG . Before that, she worked for the magazine publisher , which her father John founded in 1965 together with Gerd Bucerius and the printer Richard Gruner , as a journalistic board member as well as publisher , publishing manager and editor-in-chief . She is also a member of the supervisory board of Nestlé Deutschland AG, Hawesko Holding AG (Hanseatisches Wein- und Sekt-Kontor) and is on the advisory board of the family-owned Jahr Holding . At the children's aid organization Plan International Deutschland e. V. , of whose board of trustees she has been a member since June 2007, she is the deputy chairwoman. She is also a member of the Board of Governors of Jacobs University , Bremen .

Life

Angelika Jahr-Stilcken is the daughter of the publisher John Jahr senior . She has three brothers, two of whom, Alexander and John , died in quick succession in 2006. Her brother Michael lives with his family in Hamburg.

She studied psychology , German language and literature and philosophy in Munich and Hamburg and completed a traineeship at the daily newspaper Die Welt after completing her studies . She then worked as a trainee in the USA at McCall’s , Glamor , Vogue and Time Magazine . She then started at Gruner + Jahr in Germany, initially as deputy editor-in-chief of Es and Petra . In 1988 she took over the editor-in-chief of the magazine Schöner Wohnen und Häuser .

On July 1, 1994 Angelika Jahr-Stilcken became managing director of the Gruner + Jahr publishing group Living. In addition to the magazines Schöner Wohnen , Häuser and Flora Garten (1966), this also includes the titles Essen & Trinken (1972), Schöner essen (1985), Schöner Wohnen Decoration (1989), Living at Home (2000), which she developed. Eating & Drinking for Every Day (2003) and Dogs (2006).

On November 1, 2000, the supervisory board appointed her journalistic board member of Gruner + Jahr AG. She succeeded her eldest brother John Jahr junior. When she moved to the supervisory board of Gruner + Jahr, she ended all operational functions in the publishing house.

Angelika Jahr-Stilcken was married to the public relations consultant Rudolf Stilcken until his death in 2016 . She is involved in his communication agency Stilcken + Goettges as the main shareholder and consulting partner. The couple have two adult children together named Anna and Alexander and lived in Hamburg.
