Anicetus Bongsu Antonius Sinaga OFMCap (born September 25, 1941 in Nagadolok ) is an Indonesian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Medan .

Life

Anicetus Bongsu Antonius Sinaga joined the religious order of the Capuchins and was ordained a priest on December 13, 1969 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Apostolic Prefect of Sibolga in 1978 . With the elevation to the diocese on October 24, 1980 he was appointed Bishop of Sibolga. The Pope personally donated his episcopal ordination on January 6 of the next year; Co- consecrators were Giovanni Canestri , auxiliary archbishop in Rome , and Belchior Joaquim da Silva Neto CM , bishop of Luz .

On January 3, 2004 he was appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Medan . When Alfred Gonti Pius Datubaras OFMCap retired on February 12, 2009, he succeeded him as Archbishop of Medan.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on December 8, 2018.
