The enterprise
The Weisbarth passenger ship GmbH is traceable to the 1925 family of Weisbarth family from Urfeld , today a district of Wesseling in the Rhein-Erft district in the country North Rhine-Westphalia . From 1925 to 1993 the Weisbarths operated various supply boats on the Rhine . In 1994 the company was realigned and has been active in the passenger shipping sector ever since . The foundation stone of the Weisbarth family's shipping was laid in 1925. Karl Weisbarth, the grandfather of the current managing director Reiner Weisbarth, bought a provision boat in 1925 , which was still rowed by hand . Karl Weisbarth used it to sell groceries and ship accessories of all kinds for twenty years . Shortly after the Second World War in 1946, the first motorized ship was purchased and the range of goods expanded. In 1974 the Weisbarths bought a large supply boat called Johannes . Since taking over the family business in 1990, shipping on the Rhine has been operated by the third generation of the Weisbarth family. With the takeover, Reiner Weisbarth gave the family company a new direction by purchasing a passenger ship named Anja in 1994 , named after his oldest daughter, Anja Weisbarth. With the purchase of Anja , the original provision boat operation was discontinued and the company has been active in the passenger and event sector ever since. The ship was replaced in 1998 by a larger ship with more capacity, the second Anja . In the meantime this ship sails under the name Wien on the Danube in Vienna for the DDSG-Blue Danube fleet . The current ship, named Anja , was built in 2013 in the Lux shipyard in Mondorf .
