Anmore is a small community in the western part of the Canadian province of British Columbia and is located in the northeastern part of the Greater Vancouver Regional District .

Anmore located about 30 kilometers northeast of Vancouver and by the communities of Coquitlam , Port Moody , Belcarra and North Vancouver (District) and parts of unincorporated territory Greater Vancouver Electoral Area A surrounded. Anmore lies on the Indian arm .

history

The name of the place is derived from a small stream. The name was formed by the resident settler, FJLancaster, from the first names of his wife Annie and his daughter Leonore. This name caught on over time after the settlement was originally founded under the name Eagle Crest.

The granting of local self-government took place on December 7, 1987 ( incorporated as Village Municipality ). However, the history of the settlement goes back further. Before the arrival of European hunters and settlers, the area was already a settlement and hunting area for the First Nation .

Demographics

The census in 2016 showed a population of 2,210 inhabitants for the municipality, after the census in 2011 only showed a population of 2,092 inhabitants for the municipality. Compared to the last census in 2011, the population increased by 5.6% and, like the provincial average, has grown with a population increase of 5.6%. In the census period from 2006 to 2011, the population in the municipality grew by 17.2% at an above-average rate, while the provincial average increased by 7.0%.

At the 2016 census, the average age of the residents was 38.6 years, while it was 42.3 years in the province. The median age of the residents was determined to be 42.9 years. The median age of all residents in the province in 2016 was 43.0 years. For the 2011 census, a median age of 45.9 years was determined for the inhabitants of the municipality, and for the inhabitants of the province it was only 41.9 years in 2011.

In Anmore, the largest areas of employment are the education sector and research and development.

The average income of all employees in Anmore in 2005 was well above average C $ 38,996  , while at the same time the average for the entire province of British Columbia was only C $ 24,867. The percentage difference in income between men (C $ 46,907; provincial average = C $ 31,598) and women (C $ 29,985; average provincial = C $ 19,997) is more pronounced in Anmore, based on the average income of all employees in the province, than in the comparison for the entire province. Although both groups earn well above the provincial average, the percentage difference is even greater for men than for women. Male employees earn well above average both in comparison to the provincial average of all employees and in comparison to all male employees in the province. The income of female employees is also well above average in both comparisons. For female employees, the percentage difference in income compared to all female employees in the province is even greater than that of men.
