Anna Kummerlöw (* 1989 ) is a German musician .

life and work

Anna Kummerlöw grew up in Hamburg during her early childhood. In 2001 she moved to Kladrum in the Mecklenburg district of Parchim (today: Ludwigslust-Parchim district ), where she lives today. She passed her Abitur in 2008 at the Friedrich-Franz-Gymnasium in Parchim .

Anna Kummerlöw studied English and Classical Philology in Rostock . She teaches English and Latin at the Niels Stensen School in Schwerin .

Anna Kummerlöw has been playing the bagpipe since she was eleven . She was inspired for this by her parents, Hans-Joachim and Heidi Kummerlöw, both enthusiastic (former) bagpipe players who already belonged to the “Caledonian Pipe Band” in Hamburg. Anna Kummerlöw has been playing the Great Highland Bagpipe since she was thirteen . She has been the best German bagpipe player for years in a row and has been successfully participating in competitions in Scotland since 2011. Anna Kummerlöw was elected to the board of the Bagpipe Association of Germany eV (BAG) in 2014 and has been chairwoman since 2017; she is the owner of the Scottish Bagpipes SCQF Level 8 (PDQB Level 6), acts as a judge u. a. in Peine at the Highland Gathering, in Xanten , Trebsen and in Eisenstadt , gives workshops as well as personal or Skype lessons and has been part of the teaching team at the BAG summer school at Breuberg Castle for several years .

Anna Kummerlöw has been the pipe major of the first and so far only bagpipe band in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the "Clan MacLanborough Pipes & Drums" , since 2010 . The word "MacLanbourough" is a "Schottisierung" of the word "Mecklenburg". Together with her band, Anna Kummerlöw appears at various events. She was part of the framework program for the Warnemünde Week several times . In January 2018 she stood on the stage of the Rostock city hall together with André Rieu .
