Anne Volk

Anne Volk (born February 8, 1944 in Königsberg ; died January 6, 2017 in Hamburg ) was a German journalist , editor-in-chief and publisher . She was the first woman to head the editorial team of Brigitte 's women's magazine .

Life

Anne Volk grew up with four older brothers near Stuttgart , her father died in World War II . After finishing school, she attended the fashion school in Stuttgart.

At the age of 22 she became a fashion editor for Neue Mode magazine . In 1970 she switched to Für Sie magazine . At the age of 28 she became editor-in-chief of Neue Mode and headed the editorial office for eight years. She worked as deputy editor-in-chief for the women's magazines Petra und Freund .

In 1985 she took over the chief editor of Brigitte . In addition, the management was transferred to her in 1994. Under her leadership, another women's magazine, Brigitte Woman, and the internet portal brigitte.de were created . From 2002 to the end of 2004 she was the editor of the Brigitte Group magazines.

For many years she was a member of the board of the Literaturhaus Hamburg and was most recently deputy chairwoman of the association.

Anne Volk was married to the cultural journalist Axel Hecht (1944–2013). She died in early January 2017 after a long and serious illness at the age of 72.
