Annet Mahendru (born August 21, 1989 ) is an American actress .

life and career

Annet Mahendru is the daughter of a Russian woman and an Indian born in Afghanistan . She spent seven years of her childhood in Russia . Because she spent her childhood and youth in a large number of countries, she speaks English , German , Russian , French , Persian and Hindi . She graduated from high school in New York . She received a Bachelor of Arts in English from St. John's University .

Annet Mahendru began her television career with several guest appearances in television series , including Conviction and Entourage , as well as with roles in short films. In 2011 she appeared in one episode each of Big Time Rush and 2 Broke Girls . Since January 2013 she has played the role of Nina in the FX series The Americans alongside Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys . In the first season her role was still part of the supporting cast, for the second season this was expanded to a leading role. This role also made her notoriety in the United States. In 2013, Mahendru appeared in two episodes of The Blacklist and the White Collar series.
