annette hollywood , (* 1969 in Mainz , Rhineland-Palatinate , Germany as Annette Hanisch ) is a German artist and filmmaker .

Life

annette hollywood studied at the University of Fine Arts Braunschweig and was a visiting scholar at New York University . She lives and works in Berlin .

annette hollywood has received numerous grants and awards, such as a work grant from the Art Fund Foundation , the Lower Saxony Advancement Award (film) and a grant from the German Study Center in Venice .

Her work is shown worldwide at film festivals such as the International Short Film Festival in Oberhausen and in exhibitions. B. represented at the International Biennale for Contemporary Art (Prague 2005) and at In the Loop: Contemporary video art (Washington, 2011) as a German contribution.

annette hollywood is committed to the freedom of art and artists and their position in society through voluntary board work in the German Association of Artists (2006–2012 and since 2016) and in the International Society of Fine Arts (since 2006), for which she has numerous Initiated projects.

annette hollywood's works deal critically and humorously with the representation of art, identity and gender concepts. In doing so, she repeatedly questions the social, structural and economic conditions of art production and discourse today - processes of the production of artistic identity, authorship and participation mechanisms.

With her strategy of “performing found footage”, in which she deconstructs phenomena of pop culture and mass media , she connects to artistic approaches such as expanded cinema , appropriation art and feminist art .
