Antônio Ferreira de Macedo CSsR (born October 30, 1902 in Graminha , Minas Gerais , Brazil ; † February 28, 1989 in Aparecida , state of São Paulo ) was a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic coadjutor archbishop of Aparecida .

Life

Antônio Ferreira de Macedo joined the Congregation of the Redemptorists in and laid on 11 May 1923, the profession from. From 1923 to 1928 he studied philosophy and Catholic theology in Germany . Ferreira de Macedo received on July 20, 1928 the Archbishop of Munich and Freising , Cardinal Michael von Faulhaber , the sacrament of Holy Orders . From 1931 to 1942 Antônio Ferreira de Macedo was the director of the branches of his order in São Paulo , Cachoeira do Sul and Penha . In 1948 he became provincial .

On April 20, 1955, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Attuda and auxiliary bishop in Sao Paulo . The apostolic nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Armando Lombardi , donated him episcopal ordination on June 26th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Sorocaba , José Carlos de Aguirre , and the Bishop of Barra , João Batista Muniz CSsR.

On June 22, 1964, Pope Paul VI appointed him . titular Archbishop of Gangra and Coadjutor Archbishop of Aparecida. Paul VI accepted on December 1, 1977 the resignation put forward by Antônio Ferreira de Macedo for reasons of age.

Antônio Ferreira de Macedo attended the second, third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
