Antônio Julio Maria Mattioli

Antônio Julio Maria Mattioli OSM (born July 20, 1902 in Serra Capanne , Italy , † April 13, 1962 ) was an Italian Roman Catholic religious and prelate of Acre e Purus in Brazil.

Life

Antônio Julio Maria Mattioli joined the religious order of the Servites and was ordained a priest on August 9, 1925 .

In 1941 he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Territorial Prelature of São Peregrino Laziosi no Alto Acre e Alto Purus . Pope Pius XII appointed him on January 10, 1948 as prelate of São Peregrino Laziosi no Alto Acre e Alto Purus and titular bishop of Lacedaemonia . The Archbishop of Belém do Pará , Mário de Miranda Vilas-Boas , ordained him episcopal on July 25 of the same year . Co-consecrators were the prelate of Porto Velho , João Batista Costa SDB , and the prelate of Cochabamba , Berthold Bühl OFM . He directed the prelature, renamed Acre e Purus in 1958, until his death at the age of only 59.
