Giocondo Maria Grotti

Giocondo Maria Grotti OSM (born March 13, 1928 in Pieve di Budrio , Emilia-Romagna , Italy , † September 28, 1971 in Sena Madureira , Acre , Brazil ) was an Italian Roman Catholic religious and prelate of Acre e Purus in Brazil.

Life

Giocondo Maria Grotti joined the religious order of the Servites and was ordained a priest on June 7, 1952 .

Pope John XXIII appointed him on November 16, 1962 as prelate of Acre e Purus . On July 8, 1965, Pope Paul VI appointed him . as titular bishop of Thunigaba . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Sebastiano Baggio , donated him episcopal ordination on August 22nd of the same year . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Manaus , João de Souza Lima OCist , and the Prelate of Porto Velho , João Batista Costa SDB .

Giocondo Maria Grotti took part in the second, third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father. He died in a plane crash in Sena Madureira at the age of 43.
