Antoine de La Rochefoucauld

Antoine (I.) de La Rochefoucauld ( 1471 - March 30, 1537 ) was a French nobleman and military man; he was, among other things, admiral, lieutenant general , admiral of France and governor of Paris .

Life

Antoine de La Rochefoucauld was the second son of François I de La Rochefoucauld († 1517), who became Comte de La Rochefoucauld in 1515, and Louise de Crussol. After the resignation of Philibert de Beaujeu, he became Seneschal of Auvergne (until December 5, 1532) and then Grand Seneschal of Guyenne . During the failed siege of Marseille by Emperor Charles V in August and September 1524, he was commander-in-chief in the city. In the battle of Pavia on February 23 and 24, 1525 he was captured - like King Francis I ; In 1526 he was released again.
