Jaligny-sur-Besbre is a French municipality with 575 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes in the department Allier . It belongs to the arrondissement of Vichy and is the capital of the canton of Moulins-2 .

The municipality is located on the Besbre , about 25 kilometers southeast of Moulins and 35 kilometers northeast of Vichy .
history
A Roman military camp was established in the area of Jaligny-sur-Besbre in 67.
In the Middle Ages, the place was the seat of the Lords of Jaligny, who often played an important role in French history.
