Anton Emanuel (since 1873) Ritter von Komers (born June 13, 1814 in Humpoletz , Bohemia , † December 18, 1893 in Iglau , Moravia ) was a Bohemian agricultural expert and promoter of agriculture.

Origin and family

Anton Emanuel Komers came from a middle-class family in Humpoletz, the father Matej Komers was the owner of a business that was connected to the neighboring Seelau ( Želiv ) monastery . His family of origin Komers probably came from Dalmatia . Matej Komers had two other sons in addition to Anton Emanuel Komers. Life

As a graduate of the grammar school in Iglau ( Jihlava ) with an agricultural education, Anton Emanuel Komers became an assistant in the property administration of the Thun-Hohenstein'schen rule administration in Tetschen ( Decin ) in northern Bohemia in 1832 . Supported by a scholarship from Counts Thun and Hohenstein , he continued his training as an agricultural specialist at the agricultural college in Hohenheim near Stuttgart, which later became the University of Hohenheim . After his return he became domain councilor and economic director of the domain Perutz ( Peruc ) and in 1844 central director and co-curator of the entire Thun and Hohenstein domains. Anton Emanuel von Komers was the founder of the agricultural college and agriculture school in Tetschen-Liebwerd ( Libverda ) in 1855 , which later became the Tetschen-Liebwerd agricultural college, which he headed for years. He bought the castle and manor Mostau ( Mostov ) in western Bohemia, improved the agricultural management there, directed the reforestation work and built a model estate . On February 5, 1873 he was raised to the Austrian nobility with the predicate: Knight of Komers. In 1886 he sold the castle and estate of Mostau to the industrialist Georg Haas von Hasenfels .

He was vice-president of the Patriotic Society in Prague, a committee member after its dissolution and, from 1877, second president of the regional culture council in Bohemia . From 1861 to 1882 he was editor of the “Yearbook for Austrian Farmers and Agricultural Business Calendar”, in which numerous of his publications appeared. In 1885 he retired from public life due to illness and lived in Jihlava in Moravia until his death. Anton Emanuel Ritter von Komers received numerous awards. The technical school for horticulture and agriculture in Tetschen-Liebwerd in Northern Bohemia, which he founded in 1855, was named after 1989 in the Czech language: "Antonina Emanuele Komers".
