Anton Hasenhut (born June 1, 1766 in Peterwardein ( Novi Sad ), † February 6, 1841 in Vienna ) was an Austrian actor and comedian .

Life

At the age of 23, Hasenhut was engaged by Karl von Marinelli at the Leopoldstadt Theater in 1789 . There Hasenhut had his great success with the character Thaddädl , a blasé dude with a funny appearance and an exaggerated falsified voice as part of the old Viennese folk theater .

From 1803 to 1819 Hasenhut was employed at the Theater an der Wien . This engagement was only interrupted by occasional guest tours through Germany .

Hasenhut could no longer build on his great success with Thaddädl . In the last years of his life he was only active as a copyist.

Anton Hasenhut died on February 6, 1841 in Vienna at the age of 75. His final resting place is in the Sankt Marxer Friedhof in Vienna.

In 1930 Hasenhutgasse in Vienna- Meidling was named after the actor.
