Anton Hermann Albrecht

Anton Hermann Albrecht (born May 5, 1835 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † February 10, 1906 in Dinglingen ; pseudonym: Anton Hermann) was a German Protestant theologian and poet .

Life

Albrecht was the son of master carpenter Christian Albrecht. Anton Albrecht decided early on for a spiritual activity. He studied Catholic theology in Freiburg , then classical philology in Basel . In 1859 he decided to convert to the Protestant faith and as a result studied Protestant theology in Basel and Heidelberg . After completing his studies, he worked as a vicar in Spöck , Michelberg and Schollbrunn . He later got a job as a parish administrator in Fahrenbach ; in 1865 he took over this activity in Gölshausen . In the same year he married the daughter of a craftsman who came from Lahr ; her name was Karoline Schneider. He became pastor in Huchenfeld in 1868; In 1873 he was appointed to Eutingen . In 1878 he moved to Kleinkems and was pastor there until 1885. During this time he started to write poetry. From 1888 to 1893 he was pastor in Laufen , after which he retired. Until his death he stayed in the cities of Lahr and Dinglingen.

Commemoration

On May 2, 1937, a memorial stone for Albrecht was erected at the rectory in Kleinkems. It bears the inscription "Hermann Albrecht lived in this house from 1878 to 1885, the narrator of the Markgräflerland ". On May 3, 1964, a new evangelical parish hall was built in Kleinkems; it bears the title “Hermann-Albrecht-Haus”.
