Antonio Beduzzi

Antonio Maria Niccolò Beduzzi or Peduzzi (* 1675 in Bologna ; † March 4, 1735 in Vienna ) was an Italian theater engineer, decorative painter and architect .

Life

Antonio Beduzzi (place of origin Schignano ?) Was mainly active in Upper Austria ( Lambach , Linz) and Lower Austria ( Melk , Maria Taferl , Dürnstein ). The " Castra doloris ", superstructures for the funeral ceremonies of Emperors Leopold I (1705) and Joseph I (1711), come from him. He is also considered to be the architect of the Palais Hatzenberg-Fürstenberg in Vienna .

In 1708 he followed Lodovico Burnacini as a theater engineer at the Viennese court. He built the Theater am Kärntnertor and worked as a decorative painter at the Court Opera until 1710 . Around 1710 to 1730 he built the castle on Leopoldsberg and expanded the chapel on Leopoldsberg to a church. The frescoes in the Great Hall of the Palais Niederösterreich are his main work.

It is also worth mentioning that he was the son-in-law of the Viennese court conductor Marc'Antonio Ziani .

Recognitions

  • In Vienna- Liesing (23rd district) the Beduzziweg has been named after Antonio Beduzzi since 1955 .
