The Antonov An-4 is a Soviet seaplane . Its construction and dimensions are based on the Antonov An-2 , to which floats with a volume of around 6 m³ are mounted. The dimensions of the float are 9.34 m × 1.65 m × 1.85 m with a weight of about 220 kg. The first flight of the type, initially known as the Antonov An-2W , took place in 1951.

The An-2LP fire-fighting aircraft , whose first flight took place in the summer of 1963, was derived from the An-2W . The floats served as tanks and could hold 600 to 1260 liters of extinguishing water, depending on the amount of fuel available. Only a small number were produced and put into service with the Awialessoochrana .
