The Antonov A-15 is a Soviet glider of the open class .

development

The machine was specially created for performance gliding in order to implement the Soviet claim regarding top-class sport in gliding too. But it was also approved for aerobatics . The instrumentation was also intended for cloud flight , in order to be prepared for all events during record flights. The first flight took place on March 26, 1960. With this type, several international records were flown in 1960. Mikhail Woretennikov flew through a 100 km triangle at 110 km / h. The machines built were only intended for top pilots. Of the approx. 40 machines built, only 2 copies were exported to Hungary, 1 copy to the ČSSR and 1 copy to the Netherlands. There are currently 4 still flying, one in Lithuania, one in Hungary, one in Germany (OK approval) and one in the USA.

construction

The all-metal shoulder -wing wing (self-supporting shell construction) had a V-tail unit as a special feature . The wing was provided with a laminar profile and a 50-liter water tank. The landing gear consists of a retractable main wheel and a tail spur. Fowler flaps serve as landing flaps, and there are also spoilers in the wings.
