Appenwinds

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Appen winds is a desert in the municipality of Künzell in the district of Fulda .

Geographical location

The desert lies at an altitude of 399 m above sea level in the district of Pilgerzell , about 200 meters west of the hamlet of Loheland, which belongs to the Dirlos district . The field name Apewinde is used for the approximate localization of the place.

history

The desolation lies in the area of the Karlmann donation from 743. It is first mentioned in a document in 1166 in a document from the former Abbot Markward , who contained a long desolate half hoof to Pilgerzell the Free Adalbert, son of Rudeger von Appenwinds, to inheritance as long as he pays the interest on time and dutifully fulfills the usual services. In 1308 the village is mentioned again as lying under the Florenberg . In 1409 Johann I von Merlau handed over the bailiwick to the Propstei Neuenberg, among other things via Appenwinde . In 1384 it was at least partially desolate, as in that year the Fulda abbot Friedrich I. von Romrod assigned rights to the desolations of Ermbrechts and Appenwind to a Hans von Rota as pledge . In 1469 it was completely desolate, because that year the Neuenberg monastery gave away a scrap of shrubbery and bushes to be cleared for appen winds.

It was probably abandoned because life on the road from Fulda to Weyhers brought permanent insecurity. The knights of Ebersberg ruling in Weyhers, known as von Weyhers, were in frequent feuds with the rulers in Fulda and probably harassed the population on the way there. The settlement also fell during a general period of desertification .

Konrad Lübeck dates the establishment of the place to the end of the 7th century, before Fulda was founded . Modern settlement research seems to confirm this assumption published in 1931. Slavic ethnic groups, coming from Thuringia, settled the East Franconian area , which was only poorly developed by the Merovingians .
