Après vous ... Please After You is a 2003 French comedy film directed by Pierre Salvadori .

action

Antoine Letoux works as a head waiter at the Chez Jean restaurant , which is run by his mother. After a stressful day at work, he has arranged to meet his girlfriend Christine for dinner, but is late. He takes a short cut through the park where he sees a man trying to hang himself. He saves his life and takes the depressed man home with him. He pretends to Christine that it is a cousin of his. Because he sent his grandparents a farewell letter by post, Antoine takes him to see his grandparents, where he first learns that his counterpart is called Louis. He has to read the letter to the visually impaired grandmother and invents a story. At the same time, Antoine learns from the letter that Louis suffers from severe lovesickness, as he was surprisingly abandoned by his great love Blanche. Antoine still has to drive the grandmother to a friend. While driving the car, Louis, who is hiding in the back seat, learns that it was his grandmother who made Blanche leave him because she thought the two were not a match.

Antoine brings Louis into the restaurant, where the shocked man gets too close to the flame and catches fire. He is being taken to the hospital. After successful treatment, it turns out that Louis has no health insurance. Antoine pays for the costs, but Christine turns against Louis, who turns out to be a financial bottomless pit. Antoine wants to get Louis back on his feet and makes inquiries into Blanche's current place of residence. She works as a florist and has just lost a large order for a wedding. Antoine jumps in spontaneously and buys all the flower arrangements. In this way he narrowly escapes a private catastrophe, Christine believes that he has forgotten her three-year meeting, whereupon he can show the whole apartment full of flowers. Antoine visits Blanche several times and first learns that she will be getting married shortly, while later he sees her fiancé with another woman and Blanche opens her eyes that her boyfriend is cheating. She breaks up with him and makes Antoine kiss her when her boyfriend suddenly stands at the door. Meanwhile, things are looking up with Louis. Thanks to Antoine's commitment, he receives the post of sommelier at Chez Jean and, after a few teething problems, manages to convince even the strict mother Antoines of his abilities. Nevertheless, he always had severe depressive phases.

Antoine and Blanche see each other more often. One day, while having dinner with Blanche, Antoine also meets Christine, who has gone to the same restaurant with Louis. In the evening she confronts him about the woman at his side and he clears up his plan to bring Blanche and Louis back together. When he still doesn't tell Blanche about his plans after further meetings, Christine leaves Antoine. He finally tells Louis that he saw Blanche. Louis is immediately on fire and wants to see her, but Antoine advises to be prudent. He visits her one last time, but during the visit he loses a lighter that Louis gave him and that has Antoine's name as an engraving. When Antoine breaks up with Blanche on the phone, not only is he unhappy, but also she. At that moment Louis appears in the shop and can comfort her. She visits him shortly afterwards at Chez Jean , where Louis promptly introduces her to Antoine. She flees the restaurant in consternation. Louis hurries after her. In the car he gives her a light with her lighter and recognizes the lighter he had given Antoine. He realizes that Antoine and Blanche are in love. He goes into hiding for a week, but then returns to work pretending to have been ill. He invites Antoine to dinner. At the reserved table, however, is Blanche - Louis has arranged a rendezvous between her and Antoine. He chose the wine for the evening himself. While Louis makes his way to the park whistling, Antoine and Blanche exchange their first official kiss in the restaurant.
