Arakel Mirsojan

Arakel Mirsojan ( Armenian Արակել Միրզոյան ; born October 21, 1989 in Yerevan , Armenian SSR , Soviet Union ) is an Armenian weightlifter . In 2009 he became vice world champion and European champion in a duel in lightweight.

Career

Arakel Mirsojan started lifting weights as a child. His father is none other than Oksen Mirsojan , the 1988 Olympic bantamweight champion . He is also his trainer at a performance center in Yerevan. Since Arakel Mirsojan has been part of the Armenian national weightlifting team, he has also been coached by the Armenian head coach Ashot Mchitarjan. He is a journalism student at the University of Yerevan.

Arakel Mirsojan made his debut on the international weightlifting stage in 2005. He started at the European Junior Championships in Sofia in featherweight and finished with 242 kg (110-132) in a duel behind Sergei Petrosian , Russia , 263 kg, Alexandru Dodoglu, Moldova , 263 kg u. Paul Stoichita, Romania , 258 kg, 4th place. In 2007 he won the European Junior Championships in Landskrona in featherweight with 257 kg (115-142) behind Dimitrios Minasides, Cyprus , who came to 263 kg, the European Championship silver medal.

He was also successful in 2008. He won his first international championship title at the European Junior Championships in Durres / Albania in the lightweight 310 kg (140-170). At the Junior World Championships this year in Cali he came in lightweight to 302 kg (137-165) and had to admit defeat Oleg Chen from Russia, 307 kg (142-165). Finally, he started in 2008 at the Universities World Cup in Komotini / Greece and came there with an increase to 312 kg (142-171) behind the Chinese Xiao Minghua, who won there with 332 kg (150-182) superior 2nd place.

In 2009 Arakel Mirsojan also won his first international senior title. He was in Bucharest with 336 kg (151-185) European Champion in front of the experienced French Vencelas Dabaya , 333 kg (147-186) and Wladislaw Lukanin from Russia , who reached 330 kg (147-183). At the Junior World Championships in Bucharest in 2009, he had to learn shortly afterwards how bitter a defeat can be, because after three failed attempts in pushing with 180 kg without a duel, he had set a new personal best in snatch with 152 kg , with which he had also become junior world champion in the tear.

He was well recovered from this defeat at the 2009 Seniors World Championships in Goyang / South Korea . He managed there in a lightweight duel 334 kg (154-180) and thus finished second behind Liao Hui from the People's Republic of China , 346 kg (160-186).

Arakel Mirsojan was not at the start at the 2010 European Championships in Minsk .
