Archive software
Archive software ( archive program , archive information system ) is industry software for archiving .
The first generation of such software was primarily used for the archival indexing of archive material (system of descriptions , electronic archive catalog ). Following the general concentration process, instead of individual solutions, standard products are used today, which offer numerous additional functions for the entire archiving workflow .

MySQL , PostgreSQL | Mediawiki is suitable for archives and museums, as it is fully documented as open source software and, due to its distribution, promises a very favorable future prognosis and long-term stability. The Semantic MediaWiki Extension extends the Mediawiki to a database in which data models tailored to archives and inventories (e.g. ISAD (G)) can be mapped. There are interfaces for data export and import. Images and files can be used Mediawiki installations are mature and reliable, as well as high-performance and scalable. |

Individual solutions in Germany
In addition to commercial archive software, in-house developments are still used in the archives of individual federal states, for example in Hesse, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein (Arcinsys), Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (ARIADNE), and Rhineland-Palatinate. In addition to MidosaXML, the Federal Archives also use the in-house development BASYS-S. Even individual municipal archives use proprietary developments, e.g. B. the Heilbronn City Archives (HEUSS) or the Mannheim City Archives - Institute for City History (FindStarONLINE).
