Aribert Rödel
Aribert Otto Rödel (born August 5, 1898 in Köthen , † September 20, 1965 in Essen ) was a German architect .
Life
Aribert Rödel, son of a businessman, attended the humanistic high school in Koethen. After graduating from high school, he took part in the First World War on the Western Front from 1917 to the end of 1918 as a war volunteer in Magdeburg's pioneer battalion No. 4 , most recently as a deputy sergeant and battalion adjutant. Awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class, he was dismissed after the end of the war with an officer's license. From 1919 he studied architecture at the Technical Universities of Munich and Stuttgart . In 1919 he became a member of the Corps Rheno-Palatia Munich .
Rödel was already working as chief architect in larger studios from 1922. As a master student of Paul Bonatz , in 1923 he was appointed head of the settlement department at the city's settlement office. After passing the second state examination , he was appointed government master builder ( assessor in the public building administration), but soon decided against a career as a building official . He went into business for himself and in 1925, together with Alfred Wahl, founded the architects' association Wahl & Rödel, retired government builder, architects BDA in Essen, which focused on the design and construction management of schools, administration buildings, hospitals, churches and private and residential buildings.
After the Second World War , Rödel carried out numerous projects for housing associations in the Ruhr area as part of the reconstruction.
