Armin Andrä

Armin Andrae Erich (* 15. August 1926 in Crimmitschau , † 28. August 2018 in Rostock ) was a German jaw / facial surgeon and dentist .

Life

The son of the bank employee Erich Bernhard Andrä and his wife, the tailor Gertrud Andrä, née Pippig, was born in Crimmitschau in 1926 . After graduating from high school in 1946, he was initially not allowed to study because his father was a member of the NSDAP . It was only when he joined the SED in 1949 that he was allowed to study dentistry at the University of Jena . In 1953 he began studying general medicine . In the same year he married his wife. Two years later he finished his studies and received his doctorate in dental sciences the following year . In 1956 and 1957 he worked as an assistant doctor in the miners' hospital in Gera and in the district hospital in Greiz , then at the clinic of the University of Rostock . In 1958 he received his doctorate . After working as a specialist for four years, he completed his habilitation in Rostock in 1964 for dentistry, oral and maxillofacial medicine.

Andrä became a lecturer for surgical stomatology as well as for maxillofacial surgery. In 1970 he was appointed full professor to the chair for surgical stomatology and maxillofacial surgery and at the same time director of the clinic and polyclinic for surgical stomatology and maxillofacial surgery. A year later he joined the Society for Stomatology, and since 1972 he has chaired this society at the Universities of Greifswald and Rostock. He carried out both activities until 1977. From 1985 to 1989 he was chairman of the Rostock Medical Society. V. 1991 Andrä retired.

He was extremely connected to his hometown Crimmitschau, he wrote several literary works about his hometown.

Andrä died in Rostock at the age of 92 .
