Arnold Johannes Finck (born February 27, 1925 in Krokau ; † August 10, 2016 in Kronshagen ) was a German agricultural scientist .

Life

Arnold Finck grew up as the eldest son of a farmer in Krokau in Schleswig-Holstein . He first attended the middle school in Schönberg and later the high school in Wellingdorf , where he graduated from high school in 1943 . He then served in World War II and, after the end of the war, did an agricultural training until 1946 . He then studied agriculture at Kiel Christian Albrechts University (CAU) until 1949.

1951 Finck with the dissertation Ecological and soil science studies on the benefits of earthworms for soil fertility to Dr. agr. PhD . From 1952 to 1957 he was a scientific assistant at the Institute for Plant Nutrition and Soil Science of the Agricultural Faculty of the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel. In 1958 Finck completed his habilitation with the thesis investigations into the manganese supply of field plants on some soil types in Schleswig-Holstein .

From 1958 to 1961 Finck worked as an agricultural chemist at the Jezira Research Station in the Sudanese Wad Madani . After his return to the CAU, he was senior assistant and private lecturer for soil science and plant nutrition at the Institute for Plant Nutrition and Soil Science until 1964 . In 1964 he was an adjunct professor , then until 1970 associate professor and until 1992 full professor at the Institute for Plant Nutrition and Soil Science. In addition, from 1979 he was director of the Institute for Plant Nutrition and Soil Science and from 1987 to 1989 Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Nutritional Science at the CAU.
