Arnold Gohr (born October 12, 1896 in Wottnogge , Pomerania ; † January 23, 1983 ) was a German politician . He was regional chairman of the Berlin CDU (East) and deputy mayor of Berlin.

Life

Gohr, the son of a small farmer , attended the village school in Saviat and the grammar school in Lauenburg and Schlawe . After completion of the Obersekundareife he was 1913/1914 for shop assistants trained and was 1914 to 1916 as a dispatcher and accountants operate. In 1916 he was drafted into military service and was taken prisoner of war , where he remained until 1920.

Between 1920 and 1933 Gohr was a member of the trade union federation of salaried employees , the Association of War Disabled Persons and the German Democratic Party and the German State Party. Until 1945 Gohr worked as an authorized signatory and department head in the Berlin nitrogen syndicate.

In 1945 Gohr was one of the founders of the CDU district association Berlin-Köpenick . He was employed by the German Fertilizer Center and became a member of the FDGB . Gohr acted as deputy CDU state chairman between April 1948 and June 1949 and then until August 1952 - as the successor to Helmut Brandt - first state chairman of the CDU in East Berlin .

From 1952 to 1966 he was a member of the district board of the CDU Berlin and from 1948 to 1964 he was a member of the main board of the CDU. In 1946 Gohr was elected city councilor and from 1948 to 1958 he was the deputy mayor of Berlin.

In 1948/1949 Gohr was a member of the German People's Council , then in 1949/1950 a member of the Provisional People's Chamber. From 1950 to 1963 he was a member of the People's Chamber as a Berlin representative .

In addition, Gohr was involved in numerous social committees: From 1950 to 1954 he was a member of the National Council of the National Front , from 1953 a member of the VdgB , from 1954 a member of the German Association of Cities and from 1957 a member of the Greater Berlin District Board of the Society for German- Soviet friendship . Gohr was secretary from 1958 and from 1962 as a member of the Presidium of the Franco-German Society.
