Arrondissements of Montreal
The Canadian city of Montreal is divided into 19 boroughs, so-called arrondissements . You are responsible for certain assigned tasks at the local level. Each arrondissement has its own district mayor and district council.

Former arrondissements
As of January 1, 2002, the urban area covered the entire Île de Montréal and was divided into 27 arrondissements. Some municipalities spoke out in referendums against the merger ordered by the provincial government and became independent again on January 1, 2006.
