Arthur Hughes (Archbishop)

Arthur Hughes MAfr (born August 25, 1902 in London , Great Britain ; † July 12, 1949 ) was a British Roman Catholic Archbishop and Vatican diplomat .

Life

Arthur Hughes joined the religious order of the White Fathers in and received on 28 June 1927, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On March 3, 1945 Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Hieropolis . The Vicar Apostolic of the Nile Delta , Jules Girard SMA , donated him episcopal ordination on May 20 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Vicar Apostolic of Port Said , Ange Hiral OFM , and the Bishop of the Luxor Eparchy , Markos II. Khouzam .

On August 23, 1947 Arthur Hughes was by Pius XII. Appointed titular archbishop of Aprus and apostolic Internuntius in Egypt .
