The Artland Route is a 142 km long holiday route in Artland in and around Quakenbrück in Lower Saxony . Most of the Artland route runs through the Osnabrück district , while a small part grazes the west of the Vechta district . The road is designed as a ring route. On the route that leads through the fertile fields and meadows of the Haseniederung , there are large stone graves from the Neolithic Age , which are also part of the " Route of Megalithic Culture ".
The route begins in Quakenbrück and leads back to Quakenbrück via Dinklage , Badbergen , Gehrde , Bersenbrück , Ankum , Nortrup , Kettenkamp , Eggermühlen , Fürstenau , Bippen , Berge , Menslage and Groß-Mimmelage .
The main purpose of the route is to lead visitors to historically significant sites, especially in the old district of Bersenbrück . There are a number of splendid half-timbered farmhouses along the route , which are part of the “Artland cultural treasure”. Further stations are the half-timbered old town of Quakenbrück, the monastery Burg Dinklage , the castle complex in Fürstenau, the monastery Börstel , the places of worship and sacrificial stones in the Bippen forest and the windmill Groß-Mimmelage .
