Artur Tuźnik (* 1989 ) is a Polish jazz musician ( piano , composition ) who first became known as a member of the Tomasz Stańko Experience .

Tuźnik initially studied jazz and classical piano in Lublin and since 2008 in Odense . In Copenhagen he completed his master's degree in jazz piano at the Rytmisk Conservatory of Music and then belonged to the soloist class there; he then continued his studies at the Det Kongelige Danske Conservatory of Music . His playing is stylistically influenced by impressionism and the folk music of Poland.

Tuźnik has worked on various projects with artists such as Jeremy Pelt , Tony Malaby , Anders Christensen , Carsten Dahl , Andreas Lang , Richard Andersson , Anders Mogensen , Tomasz Dąbrowski and Kresten Osgood . In 2011 he made his record debut with his Licak / Tuznik quintet . This was followed by a release of his Outbreak Quartet on the Radio Katowice label after the band had won the important Polish jazz competition Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa . At the Burghausen Jazz Week in 2014, his playing in Igor Osypov's quartet so impressed the jury that he received an (unplanned) special prize for the best soloist of the evening. In 2016 an album by his trio with Nils Davidsen and Jakob Høyer was released on the Polish label Multikulti , which received positive international attention.

Tuźnik also presented his compositions in cooperation with the Atom String Quartet , Thomas Agergaard , Maciej Obara , Moo Latte and several other formations. The world premiere of his crossover work SWAN Suite took place as part of the CPH Jazz Festival 2018 ; she received 5 stars in Politiken magazine . His composition Woods was awarded a prize by the authors' association Danske Populær Autorer and was presented and broadcast live by the Danish Radio Big Band .

Tuźnik also worked in the trio The Space Above with the Bolivian flautist Flavia Huarachi and the Norwegian drummer Simon Albertsen; there his compositions were juxtaposed with works of early music . He can also be heard on albums by Maciej Kądziela, Zawartko / Piasecki and Kārlis Auziņš .
