Anders Mogensen (born July 1, 1969 in Holstebro ) is a Danish jazz musician ( drums ) who heads the jazz course at the Syddansk Music Conservatory in Odense.

Live and act

Mogensen learned to play drums at the age of six; at the age of ten he also took classical piano lessons. After graduating from college in 1989, he first studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston from 1990 and then graduated from Rytmisk Music Conservatory in 1996 . In addition, he took private lessons from Alex Riel , Bob Moses , Billy Hart , Adam Nussbaum and other drummers.

Mogensen belonged to When Granny Sleeps from 1995 with Kasper Tranberg , Niclas Knudsen and Nils Davidsen ; the quartet presented three albums, also with David Liebman and with Ray Anderson . Since 1996 he has also been part of the Copenhagen Art Ensemble , which has interpreted works by Lotte Anker , Tim Berne , Marilyn Mazur and Ture Larsen and published them on sound carriers.

His debut album Taking Off was released under his own name on Storyville Records in 1995 (with Gary Thomas , Rick Margitza and Ron McClure ). The album Spirit followed in 2005 together with Harald Haugaard . In the following years he worked with Tomasz Dąbrowski and Nils Davidsen in the Tom Trio (album of the same name in 2012) and in several projects with Jerry Bergonzi and Carl Winther . His album Just Another Day at the Office followed in 2013 on SteepleChase Records . He can also be heard on albums with the Doky Brothers , Jacob Anderskov , Mariane Bitran , Petter Wettre , Søren Bebe and Walt Weiskopf . He has also worked with Bob Berg , the Brecker Brothers , Django Bates , Michael Formanek , Steve Swallow , Tim Hagans , Lew Soloff , Marc Johnson , Rudresh Mahanthappa , Ben Monder , George Colligan and Gary Peacock .

As an associate professor for drums and ensemble, he has been leading the jazz course at the Fynske Music Conservatory / Carl Nielsen Academy of Music in Odense since 1998 , which was merged with the South Danish Music Conservatory .
