history
The blast furnace stock is one of the few testimonies to the mining history of the municipality of Gußwerk that is still in a relatively good structural condition. The blast furnace stock in Aschbach is a stone masonry tower with an almost square shape . This is the last remnant of the Marienhütte, where the ore obtained from the mining of Soles was smelted.
After the abandonment of the old blast furnace at Niederalpl Built Anton Fischer , the sole owner of Marienhütte, in 1850 Marienhütte. The new blast furnace was 12.6 m high and had a daily output of five to seven tons of iron . The wind heater was built into the blast furnace . The fan was powered by water power. The blast furnace produced white iron and iron for simple castings for personal use. The blast furnace in Aschbach was blown out in May 1891. In the 1890s it was rebuilt for 1.4 million schillings at the time .
In 1908, the third largest municipality in Austria in terms of area was renamed from Aschbach to Gußwerk. In 1983 the elementary school was closed due to a lack of students. Since then, more and more residents have moved to larger cities.
