geography

location

The Aschentalshalbe is located in the Upper Harz in the Harz Nature Park about 2 km southeast of Sieber , a northeastern district of Herzberg am Harz . It rises between the Gropenbornskopf in the north, the Koboltstaler Köpf in the east-northeast with their foothills Gödeckenkopf in the east, the Schadenbeeksköpf in the southeast, the Übelsberg in the south, the Großer Knollen in the south-southwest, the Pagelsburg in the southwest, the Adlersberg in the west and the Breitentalskopf in the Northwest.

Watershed

The watershed runs over the Aschentalshalbe between the Sieber in the north to west and the Oder in the east to south: while the Tiefenbeek, which rises north of the mountain, flows northwestwards towards the Sieber, the Grade Lutter, which arises on its southern highlands, is the right source brook of the Lutter , the one to the south flows into the Oder.

Summits and measuring points

The Aschentalshalbe has several peaks:

  • The west summit, also called Hohes Feld , is 667  m high. From there your gaze falls on Sieber.
  • The two main peaks, which are roughly in the middle of the ridge, are the highest peaks, each about 685  m high.
  • The east-north-east summit is about 640  m high. A little to the south-east of it, a measuring point ( 627  m ) is shown on topographic maps . From there and the refuge located a little to the east (see section hiking ), the view falls south.

hike

The Harz Club hiking trail 15 G runs over the Aschentalshalbe, from which several hiking trails lead to the aforementioned neighboring mountains. About 1.25 km east-northeast of the mountain and about 1 km north of the north-west crest of the nearby Schadenbeeksköpfe is a refuge near the eastern crest of the Aschentalshalbe. Until 2016, the stamping point 152 Schadenbeeksköpf was located here in the system of the Harz hiking pin .
