Askov Sogn is a Danish parish ( Danish : Sogn ) in South Jutland . It was created in 1986 by splitting off from Malt Sogn .
Malt Sogn had belonged to Harde Malt Herred in Ribe Amt until 1970 . Both had been in the extended Ribe Office in the Vejen municipality since 1970 . Since 2007 Askov Sogn is located in the enlarged municipality Vejen , Region South Denmark .
2829 inhabitants live in Askov Sogn, 1879 of them in the village of Askov (as of January 1, 2020). Here is the Askov Church.
Neighboring communities are Malt Sogn in the west and Vejen Sogn in the east .
In 1844 the theologian Grundtvig opened the first European folk high school in Rødding , which was relocated to Askov, north of the new state border, in 1865 as a result of the German-Danish War . Graduated from the Askov school. a. the writer Martin Andersen Nexø .
