Assassin's Creed Chronicles is a game trilogy of 2.5D games belonging to the Assassin's Creed series. It is published by Ubisoft . The first part of Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China was released on April 22, 2015. The other two parts are called Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India and Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India was released on January 12, 2016 and Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia was released on February 9, 2016.

Gameplay

The Chronicles series is a side scroller in the 2.5D perspective and the gameplay is based on the Assasins Creed series. Multiple melee and ranged weapons are supported. Another important element are platformers Run -Passagen. The games also contain stealth elements , as the player often has to sneak past opponents. B. can hide in the shade.

Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China

Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China was originally announced in September 2014 as part of the Assassin's Creed Unity Season Pass.

The main character of this game is Shao Jun, who already made an appearance in the short film Assassin's Creed Embers .

The game is set in Beijing in the 16th century at the time of the fall of the Ming dynasty and follows the assassin Shao Jun. The game is set in Russia and deals with the consequences of the October Revolution in 1917. The story revolves around the protagonist Nikolai Orelov and is based on the comic book Assassin's Creed: Subject Four.

The games were rated average to good (according to Metacritic ), whereby the rating deteriorated with each new part, which is due, among other things, to a lack of innovations and a special atmosphere or effects and the unspectacular story. The Gamestar awards the first part 81 out of 100 points, the second part 79 out of 100 and the third part only 68 points.

GIGA compares the style to a watercolor style that Ubisoft has already used in Child of Light . Among other things, the lack of depth in the plot is criticized, which makes it difficult to develop a relationship with the characters. This is due to the lack of dialogues and cutscenes , as the plot is only told through artwork. The missing side missions are also criticized. The gameplay, on the other hand, is described as refreshing and innovative. The stealth gameplay requires more patience than action and passages feel like solving puzzles in which the player uses different tactics to try to remain unnoticed. It is therefore largely impossible to proceed quickly.
