Assassin's Creed III: Liberation is a computer game developed by Ubisoft Sofia and Ubisoft Milan and published by Ubisoft . It belongs to the action-adventure genre and first appeared on October 30, 2012 exclusively for the PlayStation Vita , but was later released for other consoles.

The series' first female lead character is Aveline de Grandpré, an American assassin with French and African roots. Most of the game is set in Louisiana during the Seven Years' War in North America . The game is about the defense of the city of New Orleans , which is attacked by the Spanish. In addition, the main character searches for clues from the mother who disappeared many years ago. The city is taken over by the Spanish after a surprising defeat.

In Assassin's Creed III: Liberation is an action adventure with an open game world , which from the third-person perspective is presented. Like most of its predecessors, the game includes a multiplayer mode .

The game was first released in October 2012 exclusively for the PlayStation Vita in the United States and Europe under the name Assassin's Creed III: Liberation . In Japan it was published a short time later under the name Assassin's Creed III: Lady Liberty . Ubisoft later announced that it would publish the game for other platforms. The beginning was set in January 2014 and the game was in future available under the name Assassin's Creed Liberation HD in the United States and in Europe on the PlayStation Network , i.e. in the online shop of the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita. From January 2014 the game for Xbox 360 and Windows was released worldwide. Versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were released on March 29, 2019, and for Nintendo Switch on May 21, 2019, as content from Assassin's Creed III Remastered .

The music for the game was composed by composer Winifred Phillips and produced by Winnie Waldron . The soundtracks came out on the same day as the game itself.
