Aubevoye is a village and a former French commune with 5,111 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Eure department in the Normandy region . It belonged to the arrondissement of Les Andelys and the canton of Gaillon . The inhabitants are called Albavia .

With effect from January 1, 2016, the former municipalities of Aubevoye , Sainte-Barbe-sur-Gaillon and Vieux-Villez were amalgamated to form a nouvelle commune called Le Val d'Hazey and since then have had the status of a commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Aubevoye.

Aubevoye is located about 30 kilometers as the crow flies south-southeast of Rouen on the Seine . The station Gaillon-Aubevoye is located on the railway line Paris-Le Havre .

history

990 the place was annexed by the Count of Évreux for Normandy. In 1082 the place was first mentioned by its name. The Archbishop of Rouen, Charles I , founded a Carthusian hermitage in Aubevoye with the name Notre-Dame de bonne espérance in his retirement .
