August Gottlieb von Bornstedt

August Gottlieb von Bornstedt (* 1698 ; † December 13, 1772 in Magdeburg ) was a Prussian major general and chief of infantry regiment No. 20 .

Life

origin

August Gottlieb was the son of the royal Polish and Electoral Saxon Lieutenant General Heinrich Ehrenreich von Bornstedt from the House of Lauchstädt and his wife, a née von der Groeben .

Military career

Bornstedt was employed in 1714 in the "Arnim" No. 5 infantry regiment . In 1724 he became a lieutenant, in 1729 a staff captain and in 1733 a real captain . He was involved with his regiment in the Rhine campaign in 1734/35. In 1741 he became a major , in 1745 a lieutenant colonel and in 1749 a colonel . In 1753 he was given command of the "von Borke" infantry regiment No. 20 . In May 1757 he became chief of this regiment and major general. He asked for his release, which he received in April 1759.

He took part in the Silesian Wars , during the Seven Years' War in 1757 he was in command of Dresden for a time .

Bornstedt was married to Philippine Sophia Spiegel von Peckelsheim .
