August Seyffer

Friedrich August Seyffer (born August 9, 1774 in Lauffen am Neckar , † August 15, 1845 in Stuttgart ) was a German engraver , draftsman and painter .

Life

August Seyffer was a son of the Oberamtmann and Hofrat Johann Friedrich Seyffer and a brother of Ernst Eberhard Seyffer . He attended the High Charles School and was a student of Johann Gotthard Müller at the Stuttgart Copper Engraving Institute, which was set up on the initiative of Carl Eugen . In 1802 he went on a study trip to Vienna and was trained by Martin von Molitor .

From around 1807 he worked in Cannstatt and from 1816 in Stuttgart. Among other things, he worked as a draftsman for the Ludwigsburg porcelain factory. He concentrated on the representation of buildings and other sights, especially caves in Württemberg, and from 1820 published the series of publications, Regions from Württemberg . In 1822 he became inspector of the royal cabinet of engravings; At times he also taught copper engraving in Stuttgart.
