August Weltzien

August Weltzien (born August 27, 1887 in Berlin ; † February 28, 1971 there ) was a German lawyer , ministerial official and politician without a party . From 1958 to 1959 he was Senator for Finance in Berlin.

Life

The son of the mathematician Carl Weltzien attended grammar school in Berlin-Zehlendorf and then studied law at the universities in Berlin and Munich . He passed both state law exams, entered the financial administration in 1919 and was promoted to government councilor in 1920. From 1922 he was a ministerial advisor for income tax in the Reich Ministry of Finance . In 1933 he was downgraded to senior government councilor and transferred to the state tax office in Berlin-Brandenburg.

After the Second World War , Weltzien was taken over as an official in the financial administration and provisionally appointed Chief Finance President. From 1946 to 1957 he acted as President of the State Finance Office in Berlin and from 1951 at the same time as Senate Director (Deputy Senator) in the Berlin Senate Department for Finance. After the resignation of Friedrich Haas he was from July 1958 to January 1959 as a candidate of the CDU Finance Senator in the first Senate Brandt .

Weltzien held various supervisory board mandates, including around 1970 a member of the supervisory board of Vorsorge Lebensversicherung AG based in Berlin.

He had been married to Ruth, nee Krüger, since 1951.

August Weltzien died in Berlin in 1971 at the age of 83. His grave is in the Zehlendorf cemetery .
