August Wernecke
August Wilhelm Ferdinand Wernecke (born April 16, 1801 in Brasnicken , † September 5, 1872 in Erfurt ) was a Prussian major general .
Life
origin
August was a son of the heir and court lord on noble Brasnicken Anton Heinrich Wernecke († 1806), and his wife Regina Friederike, née Praetorius. His father had bought the estate from the widowed Countess von Schlieben.
Military career
Wernecke joined the 1st and 2nd Jägerabteilung of the Prussian Army as a hunter on October 12, 1817 and was promoted to secondary lieutenant by the end of May 1820 . From October 1, 1823 to July 31, 1826 he was sent to the General War School for further training and to the topographical office in Berlin in 1828/30 . At the end of November 1835, he was assigned to the 5th Pioneer Division for one year. As Prime Lieutenant Wernecke was from March 30, 1839 adjutant at the General Command of the VIII Army Corps . Left in this command, he was transferred to the 3rd and 4th Jäger detachments on January 7, 1840 , and then on March 30, 1840 as an adjutant in the governorate of Koblenz and Ehrenbreitstein . On January 8, 1842 Wernecke was promoted to captain and aggregated to the general staff . On May 1, 1843, he joined the General Staff of the V Army Corps . From March 30, 1844 to March 26, 1847 Wernecke was company commander in the 18th Infantry Regiment . He was then promoted to major in command of the 2nd Battalion in the 19th Landwehr Regiment. There he was put up for disposal on January 16, 1849 with a pension .
On September 25, 1849 Wernecke rejoined the Prussian Army and was employed as a major in the 12th Infantry Regiment . He rose to lieutenant colonel at the end of March 1853 , was appointed commander of the 32nd Infantry Regiment in Erfurt on May 10, 1855 , and was promoted to colonel in this position in mid-July 1855 . He received the Order of the Red Eagle III on September 17, 1857 . Class with bow and took on 14 September 1858 awarding of the character as a major general his farewell with pension. He died on September 5th, 1872 in Erfurt.
When he was made a major, his assessment was as follows: “A devotee in every respect with zeal and love. He subjects himself to the training of his company with great care and diligence. Suitable for transportation outside of the tour. "

Wernecke married on January 2, 1834 in the Berlin Jerusalem Church Florentine Franziska Wilhelmine Schindelmeister (1809–1841), daughter of the businessman Heinrich Balthasar Schindelmeister.
