Austin Hamilton (born July 29, 1997 ) is a Swedish athlete of Jamaican origin who specializes in sprinting .

Athletic career

Austin Hamilton gained his first international experience in 2014 when he made it to the semi-finals at the Junior World Championships in Eugene in the 100-meter run , where he was eliminated with 10.64 seconds. The following year he finished fifth in the European Junior Championships in Eskilstuna in 10.72 s and won the Swedish 4 x 100 meter relay in 39.73 s. In 2016 he retired from the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz over 100 meters with 10.47 s in the semifinals and then took part with the relay at the European Championships in Amsterdam , where he did not reach the final with 39.37 s. In 2017, at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade , he won the bronze medal in the 60-meter run in 6.63 seconds behind the British Richard Kilty and Ján Volko from Slovakia. Then he came at the U23 European Championships in Bydgoszcz in 10.40 s on the sixth place and could not finish his run with the relay.

In 2018 he qualified over 60 meters for the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham , where he was eliminated with 7.35 seconds in the lead. In the following year he reached the semi-finals at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow and was eliminated there with 6.75 s before he finished eighth in 14.70 s at the U23 European Championships in Gävle .

In 2017, Hamilton was the Swedish champion in the 100-meter run and in 2018 the indoor champion over 60 meters. He also won in 2013 with the 4 x 200 meter relay indoors and in 2019 with the 4 x 100 meter relay outdoors.
