Axel Gehrke

Axel Gehrke (born January 12, 1942 in Arnswalde , Pomerania) is a doctor and German politician ( AfD ). He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2017 .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Sankt Peter-Ording in 1963 , Gehrke did his military service and then studied medicine in Würzburg , Innsbruck , Vienna , Kiel and Lübeck , which he completed in 1970 with the state examination . 1971 Gehrke at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz with the work The importance of tracheal stenosis and Recurrensparesen for the flow resistance of the human trachea to Dr. med. PhD . After training as a specialist in internal medicine , from 1977 he was senior physician and head of the functional diagnostics department of the German Heart Center in Munich . In 1982 he moved to the University of Munich Clinic , where from 1986 he was head of the department for physical medicine and rehabilitation of the inner city clinics . In 1990 he accepted the chair for physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Hannover Medical School . In 2007 Gehrke retired . From 1997 to 1999 he was President of the German Society for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Gehrke is divorced and has three children.

He is a member of the advisory board of ROMUS Immobilienfonds GmbH & Co. der Reha-Klinik Lohmen KG, Lohmen .

Gehrke has been a member of the AfD since 2013.

In the 2017 Bundestag election he ran as a direct candidate in the constituency of Ostholstein - Stormarn-Nord and received 7.9% of the first votes . He finally moved into the German Bundestag via the Schleswig-Holstein state list . He is a deputy member of the Tourism Committee and the Health Committee .
