Axel Raimund Weishaupt (born April 23, 1945 in Lennep , † April 17, 2010 in Kinshasa ) was a German diplomat . From September 2007 until his death he was Germany's ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo . He died of heart failure.

education and study

After graduating from high school, he studied law and foreign languages ​​at the universities of Hamburg, Berlin and Strasbourg. He later completed language courses in Lourenco Marques ( Maputo / Mozambique ) and Denpasar ( Indonesia ). In 1980 the doctorate to Dr. iur. at the University of Hamburg.

Foreign service

From 2001 to 2003 he was Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Saratov / Russia . From 2003 to 2004 he was head of the Herat branch of the German Embassy in Afghanistan .

From 2004 to 2007 he was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Philippines . As head of the embassy, ​​he was also accredited as ambassador to the Republic of Marshall Islands , the Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of Palau , based in Manila. Her predecessor as ambassador was Herbert Jess . He was succeeded in this office in 2007 by Christian-Ludwig Weber-Lortsch .
