Bölcske is a Hungarian community in the county Paks in Tolna county .
location
Bölcske is located on the right bank of the Danube , about 18 km northeast of Paks . The neighboring communities are Dunaföldvár , Németkér , Dunakömlőd and Madocsa . Due to its location on the right bank, the place belongs to Transdanubia , but its soil conditions already belong to the left bank of the Hungarian Plain .
Latène Age burial ground
The cemetery is located near the local church in the Bölcske-Madocsahegy district. Two iron sword scabbards from the early La Tene period were unearthed there. One of the sheaths is decorated with two birds and a human mask, the mask has a leaf crown typical of Celtic art on its head and a palmette under its chin . A bronze belt chain with an ornate and enamelled hanger was also found. A bronze brooch that has also been recovered gives its name to the Bölcske brooch type with a large base and pseudo-filigree decoration .
The finds are in the Hungarian National Museum ( Magyar Nemzeti Múzeum ) in Budapest .
