Bollberg is a district of the town of Stadtroda in the Saale-Holzland district . It was an independent municipality until January 1, 2019.
geography
Bollberg is located between Stadtroda and the Hermsdorfer Kreuz on the federal motorway 4 , exit Bollberg / Stadtroda. Geographically, the place is in the landscape of the Saale-Elster sandstone plate in East Thuringia.
history
In 1425 Bollberg was first mentioned in a document.
In Thuringia, in 1963, agricultural testing was assigned to the districts' agricultural institutes. That is why a field testing working group was set up at the Tautenhain Institute . She worked on the trial sites Schleiz and Eliasbrunn on weathered slate soils and Schöngleina on shell limestone as representative sites for the district. With the construction of the test station in Bollberg, the red sandstone floors were finally recorded on an experimental basis. In addition, varieties and field trials were added. On January 1, 1969, the Central Office for Plant Varieties in Nossen became the superior office. After the fall of the Wall, the test station of the Stadtroda Technical School for Agriculture and Housekeeping, which is 5 km away, became a partner.
On January 1, 2019, Bollberg was incorporated into Stadtroda. The last mayor was Bernd Ebel.

In the north of the local area runs the touristically attractive Zeitzgrund with the Janismühle and paper mill, in the east the Teufelstal with the Teufelstalbrücke .
