Büchenberg is a district of the municipality of Eichenzell in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda .

geography

Büchenberg is located in the western foothills of the Rhön, west of Döllbach . State road 3430 and district road 69 run through the village .

history

The village is mentioned for the first time in a document from King Heinrich II from 1012, in which the Fulda monastery was given the forest area of ​​the Zunderhart. The hamlet of Zillbach was mentioned as early as 859.

In the Turkish tax register of the abbey of Fulda from 1605 the place is mentioned under the names Buhenbergk and Büchenbergk with 55 families.

The church, built in Zillbach in 1937, is the only half-timbered church in the Fulda district.

Territorial reform

In the course of administrative reform in Hesse , the community was on 1 April 1970 to voluntarily Zillbach in the then independent municipality Büchenberg incorporated . On December 31, 1971, the municipality of Büchenberg was incorporated into the municipality of Eichenzell. Büchenberg and Zillbach became districts of Eichenzell.
