Bürglen is a settlement immediately west of Aegerten in the Swiss canton of Bern and has been the location of a church since the early Middle Ages .
history
The vicus Burgulione , located on the Avenches - Basel route , was first mentioned in 817. The church was built on the remains of a Roman fortress, the foundations of which resemble a structure found about 250 m to the northwest. In 1255, Count Rudolf I of Neuchâtel-Nidau gave the church set to the newly founded Gottstatt Monastery . The parish of Bürglen includes the villages of Aegerten, Brügg , Jens , Merzligen , Schwadernau , Studen and Worben , until 1482 Nidau , and Port for a short time in the 16th century . After an earthquake in 1621 that caused the tower to collapse, the church was given its current appearance. In 1832 Bürglen was incorporated into the political community of Aegerten.
